Local Culture and İznik&Karamürsel Heritage

İznik is one of Türkiye’s most significant destinations with its historical, cultural, and natural richness. With its thousands of years of history, its heritage shaped by numerous civilizations, and its UNESCO World Heritage candidacy process, the region holds great value in terms of cultural sustainability. As Feradis Resort, we aim not only to provide our guests with an accommodation experience, but also to encourage them to explore the cultural texture of the region.

In this context, we provide informative content about İznik’s historical walls, Hagia Sophia Mosque, the cultural heritage of the Roman and Ottoman periods, traditional tile art, local gastronomy, and nature routes. We also value supporting local producers, artisans, and regional businesses that contribute to preserving the cultural identity of the area.

In addition to İznik, the historical and natural heritage of Karamürsel — one of the region’s important cultural values — is also part of our sustainable tourism approach.

Karamürsel, which holds an important place in Ottoman maritime history, takes its name from Karamürsel Alp, the first admiral of the Ottoman Navy. Its historical coastal culture, seaside lifestyle extending along the Marmara Sea, the traditional Karamürsel basket, and its local cuisine are among the important elements reflecting the region’s cultural diversity.

As Feradis Resort, we encourage our guests to experience the cultural values of the surrounding regions and support building a strong connection between nature, history, and local life. Preserving the region’s cultural heritage, passing it on to future generations, and sustaining it through sustainable tourism principles are among our main priorities.

The hunting maps provided to our guests are considered informative resources aimed at the controlled use of natural areas, the protection of biodiversity, and the sustainable management of wildlife habitats. Through these maps, we aim to raise awareness about the boundaries of natural areas, protected zones, and environmentally sensitive locations within the region.
